DIY MATERIAL LAB

Your material plan

Enter your measurements to build a material plan.

This is a total-length purchasing estimate. Required length includes the entered allowance, then divides by stock length and rounds up. It does not prove every desired piece can be cut from that stock. For example, a 1.6 m part cannot fit a 1.2 m board even if the combined material length is sufficient. Use the linear optimizer for a feasible cut list.

Worked reference example

Illustrative inputs in metres and SI units; the price is an example entered by the user, not a market quotation. Numeric reference verified by the automated test suite.

Calculation method

N = ceil(L × n × (1 + r / 100) / S)

Measure. Calculate. Build.

  1. Use actual dimensions and split complex rooms into rectangles.
  2. Allow for cuts, joints and package sizes. Compare stock formats.
  3. Combine your results in a shopping list you can save and print.
